Scope of Work
Chatham County Courthouse, now named Eugene H. Gadsden Courthouse — a milestone project for the region and a meaningful one for our team at S. L. King & Associates, Inc.
Our firm provided full MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design services for this critical civic project, ensuring the infrastructure supports a modern, sustainable, and community-focused environment. This is a new 165,000 SF four (4) story building with a basement.
SLKA provided full MEP services using Revit 18 to create the construction documents. The designed HVAC systems included cooling towers, water cooled chillers, energy recovery units, air handling units, condensing boilers, VAV boxes, hydronic pumps, and exhaust fans for an atrium. Provided central chilled and hot water systems design including two 280-ton water-cooled chillers, variable pumping system, cooling towers and three high efficiency natural gas fired condensing boilers.
The plumbing systems included the design of domestic cold and hot water piping, high-efficiency gas water heater, sanitary, vent, storm, and gas piping. Low flow plumbing fixtures were used to meet LEED requirements. The electrical systems included lighting of the building and powering the equipment. High-efficiency light fixtures were used to meet the LEED requirement.
