Scope of Work
SLKA provided MEP/FP engineering design consulting services for the Judge Romae T. Powell Juvenile Justice Center. Located near downtown Atlanta, this five-story, 187,500 square foot facility contains eight courtrooms, administrative and programming space, and a 25-bed holding area, designed to meet Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice standards. The new facility consolidates all of the juvenile court's functions from eight separate facilities into one central location.
A variety of components were incorporated to meet the design challenge presented to SLKA, including Direct Digital Controls (DDC), three water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, three custom variable-volume air handling units, fan-powered terminal units, atrium smoke evacuation systems, and kitchen exhaust and make-up air systems.
