Scope of Work

HVAC System Design | Plumbing Engineering | LEED & WELL Certification | Vertical Transportation Support

SLKA served as the Lead Mechanical Engineer and provided comprehensive Plumbing Engineering services for the South Domestic Terminal Parking Deck at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, contributing to one of the airport’s most vital infrastructure assets. The result is a resilient and future-ready mechanical and plumbing framework that enhances both user experience and building performance.

Our full scope of services included:

  • Heating, cooling, and air distribution systems tailored to the needs of parking structures, vertical cores, and adjacent support facilities
  • Specialized HVAC design for vertical transportation areas, administrative offices, and North Tower systems
  • Environmental control systems for bridge connections and MDF/IDF technology rooms
  • Plumbing system design encompassing domestic cold and hot water distribution, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and venting systems
  • Integration of plumbing systems with airport-wide utilities and coordination with fire protection requirements
  • Design considerations for low-flow fixtures and water efficiency measures in support of LEED & WELL certification objectives

Our plumbing solutions focused on code-compliant, efficient, and sustainable designs that support the functionality of high-traffic, public-use infrastructure. SLKA also ensured that all systems were designed for maintainability and lifecycle performance in line with HJAIA standards.

Designs were aligned with both LEED Silver and WELL Silver certification goals, promoting energy efficiency, water conservation, occupant wellness, and indoor environmental quality. Through close collaboration with architects, contractors, and airport stakeholders, SLKA delivered a resilient, high-performance mechanical and plumbing infrastructure that supports the airport’s operational demands today and into the future.
